BaoActive contains all the extraordinary properties of baobab, hytolive and omega 3, bringing you a functional food that significantly adds to the quality of your life.
Baobab
Baobab has been dubbed as a superfruit because of its exceptional concentration of key nutrients, which are crucial for optimal growth and health. It has the highest Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity (ORAC), fibre, vitamin C, iron, potassium and magnesium content out of all the fruit powders currently available. Interestingly, it is also one of the few plants that contain calcium.
The baobab tree (Adansonia digitata ) is native to Africa, Madagascar and Australia and known by many names. In Africa, it is referred to as the tree of life as it collects and stores thousands of litres of water in its hollow trunk, which humans and animals tap during the drought seasons. Both animals and humans have also used the baobab tree as a home. There is one famous story of a district commissioner in Zambia that established his office inside a gigantic baobab tree. It is thought that baobabs can become thousands of years old and can eventually sport a circumference of up to 25 metres.
The fruits are long velvety greenish-brown pods, which contain a powdery pulp and kidney-shaped seeds. The seeds offer the main remedial benefits
Baobab has a subtle taste that is a beautiful balance of sweet and citrus. Almost the entire tree can be use. The seeds are often roasted to make coffee; the fruit is mixed with water and drunk as lemonade or made into jam. The leaves are cooked and used as a vegetable, sauce or in soup. The oil is used in cosmetics and pharmaceutical products.
However, baobab is more than just a food as it provides most of your vitamin and nutrient RDA (Recommended Dietary Allowance) per day. It contains more: calcium than milk; antioxidants and vitamin C than oranges; magnesium than spinach; potassium than bananas and iron than red meat. It also contains zinc, vitamins A, B1, B2, B6 and D and acts as a prebiotic. It can be used to boost your energy levels and treat a number of different ailments. Click here for more info.
Hydroxytyrosol
As an ingredient, hydroxytyrosol’s primary function is to create and maintain heart health. It comes from the leaves, fruit and pulp of the olive tree and represents 50% of the phenol compounds found in olives.
Initially, it was thought that the low incidence of heart disease in the Mediterranean was largely due to the oleic acid content of olives. However, scientists realised that other foods, like pork and chicken are also high in oleic acid but did not show the same cardio benefits and so this led them to take a closer look at the properties of the olive. While examining the wastewater that was used to wash the olives, they came across the polyphenol, hydroxytyrosol and realised that it was the most effective free radical absorber of any of the natural antioxidants. They found that it also had impressive anti-inflammatory properties.
Hydroxytyrosol helps to protect blood lipids and LDL cholesterol from oxidative stress by binding with LDL, raising HDL levels and replacing damaged cells. It also aids in maintaining the arterial inner walls, thereby preventing plaque blockages, which cause strokes and heart attacks.
As a natural anti-inflammatory, it plays an important role in various degenerative, inflammation-based illnesses such as asthma, diabetes, cancer and arthritis.
Omega 3
Because omega 3 is lacking in most western diets and our bodies are unable to manufacture it, it is a natural choice as an active ingredient for BaoActive. For optimum health, omega 3 and 6 need to be proportionally balanced, however, western diets are generally rich in omega 6 with a ratio of about 10:1, when ideally they should be more in the vicinity of 5:1. Adding omega 3 extends the platform to provide additional restorative wellbeing for you.
Omega 3 is an essential fatty acid and a lack thereof contributes to many serious illnesses such as depression, arthritis, heart disease, cancer, Alzheimer’s, and type-2 diabetes. It is also vital for brain and bone development, age-associated deafness, mental vitality and good eyesight. Said differently, omega 3 is necessary for normal cognitive and physical development.
